Lighthouse Project – V2
What It's All About
The lake Lenape Lighthouse has been an iconic landmark in Atlantic County New Jersey for over half a century. The Lighthouse was built in 1943 as a part of the Lake Lenape Park owned by the Leiling Family at the time. It stands tall beside the Lake that was an apple orchard up until 1847 when the construction of the dam created the now iconic Lake Lenape. Our friends and neighbors have enjoyed the lake and its offerings for over a century. Families come to camp alongside it, the local high schools have their crew races in the spring, many of us join Gilda’s club to race for a cure for cancer every summer, the list of activities goes on and on. Watching over all our fun filled activities is The Lake Lenape Lighthouse.

The Wake Up Project was fortunate enough to have the lighthouse watch over our wake boarding competitions where we raise money for mental health and suicide awareness. The money we raise goes to local organizations that help people in need of mental healthcare. The Lighthouse has been a symbolic nod to our cause for many years now, and our team believed it was only fitting to lend our hands in helping to restore this local treasure. In 2022, Atlantic County Government completed over $5m in needed park, ADA and infrastructure improvements and have now committed the remaining project funds toward a public private partnership effort to rehabilitate the lighthouse structure. We are asking all of those who have been hopeful for this reconstruction project to come to fruition to please donate what you can to help us restore the lighthouse to its former glory.
